Hide/Show My Documents Folder on Desktop
By default, Windows XP does not show the My Documents folder on the Windows desktop. Using the registry edit below allows you to control whether or not My Documents is displayed.
1 [Start] [Run] [Regedit]
2 Registry Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID\{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}\ShellFolder
3 Modify/Create the Value Data Type(s) and Value Name(s) as detailed below.
Data Type: DWORD // Value Name: Attributes
4 Setting for Value Data: [Default = 0xf0400174 / Hidden = 0xf0500174]
5 Exit Registry and Reboot
