Remove the Highlight from Newly Installed Programs

Remove the Highlight from Newly Installed Programs
Remove the popup window that tells you when new software has been installed.
Click [Start] - Right click where your name is shown at the top of the Start Menu and click [Properties]

On the Taskbar and Start Menu Property Sheet select the [Start Menu] tab at the top, then next to [Start Menu] at the bottom of the sheet click [Customize]

On the Customize Start Menu Property Sheet, select the [Advanced] tab and remove the checkmark next to [Highlight Newly Installed Programs]

Click [OK] [Apply] and [OK] to finish the process and remove any existing highlights.
If the highlight persists even after making the changes above you can disable it via the registry. Make sure you have a backup prior to editing the registry.
[Start] [Run] [Regedit]

Registry Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\
Advanced

Modify/Create the Value Name according to the Value Data listed below
Data Type: REG_DWORD [Dword Value] // Value Name: Start_NotifyNewApps

Value Data: [0 = No Highlight/ 1 = Highlighted]

Exit Registry and Reboot
