Pop-ups/pop-unders...your opinion

What do you think of this kind of advertising. Personally, I rarely visit a site again after I find they have either of the two kinds of ads if my blocker fails to catch them. I find them really annoying, and rarely click on one. Pop-ups/pop-unders are much less effective than other forms of advertising because so many people use blockers for those kind of things, and as a result are not seen as often. Just my opinion.

The main reason I hate pop-ups/pop-unders is because so many sites use them irresponsibly. I don't mind it when it has information pertaining to the site you are visiting, but when they pop up 2 or more at a time and/or pop up more when I close them, that's when I get annoyed.

I must admit some links I have pop up new windows, but only to present important information to the viewer when I don't want them to leave the initial page they were viewing. When I do this I like to indicate to the viewer that a new window will be opened.

As for pop-ups/pop-unders as an advertising tool, the fact that so many people block them makes the ads all but useless.

A lot of people here are complaining that popunders get blocked therefor they are pointless. I understand the aggrevation towards popups etc but I'd simply like to inform you that most popunder traffic businesses have a system where if the person has a popup blocker, it doesn't count towards your hits.
