How to Choose Hibernate on the Shutdown Dialog
If hibernate isn't available from the default Shut Down dialog. It can be enabled by holding down the SHIFT key while the dialog is visible.
Note: A reader wrote to tell me this didn’t work and he had tried it multiple times. It’s necessary to have hibernation enabled on your computer . This is done from the [Power Options Property Sheet]. Problem solved.
Turn Off Hibernation
Access settings via [Control Panel] [Power Options] [Hibernate] tab.
Check or uncheck the box to set activation property
