Manage browser add-ons using "Add-on Configurator for W

Add-on Configurator utility allows you to quickly block or unblock a browser add-on using the Group Policy / registry settings in Windows XP Service Pack 2. The following options are included: View add-on information / status Unblock an Add-on Block an Add-on (Current user) Block an Add-on (All users)

For stand-alone systems running Windows XP Service Pack 2 only.

View add-on information

This button generates a small text file which shows the current state of the Add-on (for the given CLSID). (Whether disabled via Group Policy Editor / ActiveX Compatibility - Kill-bit set ? etc).


Sample log is below:

Add-on Class Id : {CA8A9780-280D-11CF-A24D-444553540000}
Add-on Description : Adobe Acrobat Control for ActiveX
Add-on FileName : C:\PROGRA~1\Adobe\ACROBA~1.0\Reader\ActiveX\pdf.ocx

Here is the status of the particular Add-on

Is Kill-bit set for this Add-on? : FALSE

Is the Add-on disabled via Policies - (Per user)? : FALSE

Is the Add-on disabled via Policies - (Per system)? : TRUE

Is the Add-on disabled by user - (Per user basis)? : FALSE

Is the Add-on disabled by user - (Per system basis)? : FALSE


Description - Command buttons

This button enables the add-on (CLSID) if the add-on was disabled already using any of these methods:

Via Manage Add-ons dialog

Via the registry

Policy setting (Current user)

Policy setting (All users)

ActiveX Kill-bit

All of the above restrictions are cleared for the given CLSID.
