How To Enable Internet Connection Firewall (Win XP)

Windows XP users can use the contained Internet Connection Firewall to protect their laptop when using Wi-Fi on the road. Learn how to enable this option before you connect to a hot spot.

Difficulty: Easy

Time Required: 10 mins.

Here's How:

1. Click Start and select Control Panel

2. Click Network Connections to open

3. Right-click your connection used to access the Internet

4. Select Network Tasks and click Change settings of this connection

5. Click Advanced and go to Internet Connection Firewall

6. Select "Protect my computer and network"

7. Select Settings to check the boxes for the kinds of traffic you want ICF to allow.

Tips:

1 Make sure you are logged in as Administrator first.

2 Make sure you haven't cleared the checkbox for Protect my computer and network, or you will have disabled ICF.

3 Make sure that ICF is enabled before you leave on any road trips

What You Need:
